Indíralo

Maria Jerez

María Jerez invites us to work with the imperative of an invented verb: “Indíralo”. The definition of this verb would be “not doing something individually” and designates a practice in which actions are deliberately performed together, emphasizing that processes are always collective, interdependent and ecosystemic. We will work on the choreography of a multiple and divergent brain that does not move in a single direction but in multiple and non-consensual lines towards a commitment to what is yet to be determined..

Maria Jerez (Madrid, 1978)

His work is situated “between” choreography, cinema and visual arts. Beyond the interest in his first pieces in theatrical and cinematographic conventions, and the viewer's implicit understanding of them; In his latest works he seeks to question this relationship by opening spaces of potentiality through encounters with that which we find strange and alien.. His most recent work insists on the performativity of the encounter as a space of transformation. Maria Jerez combines the production of her artistic work with pedagogical projects, curatorial and editorial.
