Concert to open the season

We launch into the season full steam ahead with the concert De sópitu, from the well-known Forma Antiqva ensemble.

Music by Georg Friedrich Händel (1685-1759), Henry Purcell (1659-1695), Mártin Codax (13th century), Santiago de Murcia (1673-1739) and popular tunes from Spain, Ireland and Scotland.

De sópitu is the music that belongs to us.

De sópitu is intended to show the richness of a set of pieces that bounced from one town to another over the years, mutating to remain alive and useful, while staying recognisable both here and there. Our own music.

De sópitu is a programme with seven musicians who blend historical instruments with folklore, mixing the oral and academic traditions with a big helping of creativity.

De sópitu: suddenly, boldly.

Formed around the brothers Pablo, Daniel and Aaron Zapico, Forma Antiqva is a group bringing together the most brilliant performers of their generation. It is considered by the critics to be one of the most important classical music ensembles in Spain.
