The Teatro Real is a unique building in the heart of Madrid with a stunning interior that was previously unseen by the general public, and which you can now discover for yourself. There are two new possible tours- a technical tour and an art tour- in which you will have the chance to step onto the stage, see the rehearsal rooms, access the Royal Box and visit the luxurious dressing rooms.

Tours Options
The audio tour takes you through the most emblematic spaces of the Teatro Real at your own pace, accompanied by an audio guide available in five languages: Spanish, English, French, Chinese and Italian.
Opening hours: Monday to Sunday, from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (last access at 3:30 p.m.)
Duration: from 50 minutes to 1 hour

4 Different Tours
Focused on the history of the Theatre from its opening in 1850 to its renovation and reopening in 1997. The general visit concentrates on aspects of the building itself, the decoration of the public spaces, how an opera house functions, and the many curiosities to be found there.
The daily tours are in Spanish, but they can also be taken in English, French or German. To arrange tours in other languages or with specialist guides for school groups, senior homes, disabled associations, etc., please email to ask about viability: visitasguiadas@teatroreal.es
Tour times: Monday to Sunday from 10 am to 1 p.m.
Duration: 50 minutes to 1 hour.

- If for technical or production reasons a full tour cannot be given, a shorter tour will be provided, for the price of 6 euros per person aged over 7.
Based on the preparations for an opera performance from an artistic point of view: how rehearsals (individual or ensemble) are organised, the work of the make-up and costume departments (both before and during the performance), how a stage entrance is organised, the work of the stage manager, what dressing rooms are like inside, etc. The tour also provides information on the current production (costumes, cast, etc.) and the next one being prepared, with a visit to the rehearsal room.

Based on the technical aspects of the Teatro Real, such as how the platforms and rigs are moved, how sets are built and set up, the process of preparing the stage for an opera performance (installation and dismantling), installing an acoustical shell, etc. It also shows how the current production is organised from a technical point of view, along with ongoing preparations for the upcoming show on floor -6.

The Teatro Real offers a unique experience with the new evening tour. This is for anyone who would like to find out what happens right after the final curtain falls! This initiative will give the public a chance to go backstage at the Teatro Real after a performance for a first-hand view of the technical areas most in use during the show and the rooms and dressing rooms the artists used before going on stage. The tour includes the entire building, from workshops, dressing rooms and rehearsal rooms to the stage itself.

Important:
- Tours open to the general public. At times, tours are only available to members of the audience attending a performance.
- Visits require a minimum of 5 people.
- You will be asked for a contact phone number or email address so you can be informed ahead of time if the tour must be cancelled.
- Tours will not be organised on the last day of any production, for technical and security reasons.
School groups discover unique spaces the public usually never sees. The luxurious salons on the 2nd floor, the different rehearsal rooms, the stage, the spacious dressing rooms and the Royal Box are just a few of the places you can visit on two different tours: the General Tour, focusing on the building and the history of the Teatro Real, and the Youth Tour, a technical and artistic visit to different spaces and departments of the theatre, including the workshops and the stage.

Youth Tour
The Teatro Real’s Youth Tour is a guided tour designed especially for schools, showing the variety of activities and professional skills involved in running a modern opera house.
It includes an artist’s and a technician’s viewpoint of the most important spaces and departments of the Teatro Real: the rehearsal rooms where the orchestra and the ballet practice, the costume and make-up workshops, and of course, the stage and the auditorium.
Youth Tours are held from Monday to Friday at 10 a.m, when the different departments are all at work, so the young visitors can see these unique spaces in action and understand what the Teatro Real staff do every day.
Duration: about 60 minutes
