Discover with our guides the history of the Teatro Real from its inauguration in 1850 to the present day.

The general tour shows you the structure of the building, the decoration of the public spaces, how an opera house works and the many curiosities that are housed in it.

• Spanish: Monday to Sunday at 10:00 am. / 12:00 pm / 1:30 pm. 
• English: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 10:15 am.
• French: Tuesday at 10:15 am.
• Duration: 1 hour and 15 minutes

*Punctuality is essential. Once the visit has begun, it will not be possible to access it and it implies the loss of the right to make the visit.

PhotoESPAÑA - ‘A Midsummer Night's Dream’ Julia Margaret Cameron

• Dedicated to Shakespeare, this exhibition pays tribute to British photographer Julia Margaret Cameron, one of the great pioneers of photographic portraiture, who knew how to transform the image into a form of poetic and theatrical interpretation. The images will occupy the lobby, the imperial staircases and the oval on the third floor.

Tribute to Victoria de los Ángeles

• Exhibition of a selection of costumes and personal items used by the soprano Victoria de los Ángeles throughout her career, organized in collaboration with the Victoria de los Ángeles Foundation, which will occupy the foyer and the seventh floor.

The exhibitions are included in the admission fee.

Based on the technical aspects of the building of the Teatro Real, such as the movements of platforms and poles, the assembly and construction of sets, the process of preparing an opera stage (installation and dismantling), installation of the acoustic shell. 

Timetable: Monday to Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
Duration: 1 hour approximately

Based on the set-up of an opera performance from an artistic point of view: how rehearsals are set up (individual and ensemble), what are the functions of the characterisation and costume departments (both before and during the performance), how the entrance to the stage is organised, what is the role of the stewards, what the dressing rooms are like inside, etc. In addition, artistic information will be provided about the production currently on the bill (costumes, arrangement of performers, etc.) and about the production being prepared, with a visit to the staging room.

Only correctly completed forms will be processed for available dates. If your desired date is not included on the form, you won ́t be able to make a reservation.

For groups of 17 people or more, the Teatro Real offers two types of visits depending on the group. Likewise, schools interested in visiting the Teatro Real can also book their tour. 

Mixed Visit

A guided tour to discover the secrets of the Teatro Real with a unique route. Discover areas such as the Foyer, the Main Hall, Rehearsal Rooms, and many other places that are part of the creation of an opera. 

• Adult group rate: 15 euros per person
• School group rate: 9 euros per person
