The Christmas classic that is Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker in an adaptation by the África Guzmán Dance Project in cooperation with the África
Guzmán Ballet School. África Guzmán Dance Project (AGDP) is a company of young dancers belonging to the professional programme who have a unique opportunity to train as versatile, multidisciplinary dancers focused on gaining professional and stage experience.
The story, set on Christmas Eve, follows Clara, a girl who is given a nutcracker as a present. That night, the toy comes to life and whisks her away to a magical world, where they confront the Mouse Queen and her army. After the battle, the Nutcracker, turned into a prince, takes Clara to the Land of Sweets, where she is received with a festival of dances. The piece culminates in a dream that reflects the magic and fantasy of Christmas.
