Audra McDonald will offer a unique concert in Spain at the Teatro Real

Audra McDonald, winner of six Tony Awards, will sing hits from some of the best Broadway musicals in the history of American musical theatre.

Audra McDonald will debut in Spain on January the 31st at the Teatro Real in Madrid. She will do so by interpreting various themes by American composers such as George Gershwin, Michael John LaChiusa, Stephen Sondheim and Kander & Ebb.

The actress and singer takes a little break from her US tour, which began on December 2nd  at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, and will finish at the Virginia Arts Festival on May 15, to give a unique concert in Madrid's main arena, the Teatro Real. Audra McDonald has become, during the past years, one of the best actresses and singers from Broadway after being awarded six Tony Awards for her performance in "Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill" (2014), "Porgy and Bess" (2012), "A Raisin in the Sun" (2004), "Carousel" (1994), "Master Class" (1996) and "Ragtime" (1998). With these awards ,  not only has she become the first artist to be awarded six Tony awards (as Julie Harris and Angela Lansbury were the actresses who held the largest number of Tony with five awards), but also the first actress under 30 years old to be awarded three Tony Awards.

Tickets for this concert are available on the Teatro Real's web site and at the Box Office (Plaza de Oriente), Monday to Friday from 9.15 to 20.00 h., Saturday with performances, from 10.00 to 20.00 hours and on Sundays and holidays with performances, two hours before the performance.
