Francisco Coll, composer of An enemy of the people, has had to cancel his participation as musical director in this production for health reasons. Maestro Coll will remain involved in the production, following the rehearsals of his opera as his recovery allows.

World premiere of a new opera with a libretto based on the play Enemy of the People by Henrik Ibsen, and with the librettist, Àlex Rigola, as stage director. Christian Karlsen will conduct the Orchestra of Teatro Real in this political work about the risk of democracy degenerating into demagoguery.

The story of an honest doctor who confronts the authorities and economic powers of a town when he discovers deadly bacteria in the water at the local spa: an analysis of the prevalence of morality over economic considerations.
