Thirteen years have had to go by so that we can once again see, on a stage in the Plaza de Oriente, the English National Ballet, and seven more (that makes twenty) so that the audience of the Teatro Real can relish the iconic love story of Giselle.
At this time, the romantic ballet charged with betrayals, revenge, ghosts, deaths and unreturned love - with its obligatory scene of madness – comes to us through the production of one of the fetish choreographers of the company: Akram Khan.
Spurred on by the persistence of Tamara Rojo, Artistic Director since 2012, in an effort to strengthen the classic repertory of the institution with new productions, this choreographic artist originally from Bangladesh has reinvented a ballet that is supported by the re-orchestration of Vincenzo Lamagna and a team with innumerable prizes, from the Tony won by the light designer Mark Henderson, and the Oscars won by the set and costume designer Tim Yip.
