About the workshop

Is opera art or technique? How do rehearsals begin? How far in advance is a production scheduled? This workshop aims to answer these and many other questions but, above all, to provide you with the tools that allow you to find them yourself. Throughout the workshop, you will discover the technical and artistic details that make an opera production possible from the hand of its protagonists and you will attend the main rehearsals of the production of Joan of Arc at the stake at the Teatro Real.

1st SESSION: THE OPERA, ART OR TECHNIQUE?

• May 18 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
• Guided technical tour of the Teatro Real. Talks around the opera

SESSION 2: HOW THE MAGIC BEGINS

• May 20 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
• Attendance at a rehearsal in the Staging Rehearsal Room (SEPE)

SESSION 3: REAL VOICES

• May 25 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
• Attendance at a rehearsal in the Choir Room

4th SESSION: WHERE MUSIC IS BORN

• May 30 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
• Attendance at a rehearsal in the Orchestra Hall

5th SESSION: THE TECHNIQUE IN CONTROL

• May 31 from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
• Attendance at an antepiano rehearsal in the Main Hall

SESSION 6: THE OPERA IN TABLE

• June 1 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
• Attendance at an Italian-style rehearsal in the Main Hall

7th SESSION: EVERYONE ON STAGE

• June 2 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
• Attendance at a group rehearsal in the Main Hall

8th SESSION: FINE-FINISHING DETAILS. Joan of Arc exposed at the stake

• June 5 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
• Attendance at a dress rehearsal
