Mozart’s Requiem is available on the PALCO DIGITAL

PALCO DIGITAL, the audiovisual portal at the Teatro Real, adds Mozart’s Requiem interpreted in Toledo Cathedral on the 20th of September, 2014 to its video library

The commemorative acts throughout 2014 have taken place in order to recall El Greco’s death 400 years ago, on the 20th of September a gold brooche was awarded to: the interpretation of the Requiem that W.A.Mozart started to compose not long before his death. Directed by Ivor Bolton, and with the participation of the Teatro Real’s Orchestra and Chorus, the nave of the Cathedral of Toledo welcomed this oeuvre the genius of Salzburg left unfinished, and that his pupil Franz Xaver Süssmayr ended.

Comissioned by Count Franz Von Walsegg to be interpreted at his wife’s funeral, Mozart always believed that destiny was making compose the music that would end up playing at his own funeral.
