The most famous comic opera in history returns in a clever, entertaining production by Damiano Michieletto. The Italian stage director locates the action in the revolving facade of a block of flats where the plot twists unfurl at the speed marked by the score, with Giacomo Sagripanti as musical director. The opera features the voices of Marina Viotti, Isabel Leonard, Olga Syniakova, René Barbera, Pietro Adaini, Dave Monaco, Andrzej Filonczyk, Florian Sempey, Germán Olvera, Misha Kiria, Nicola Alaimo, Pablo Ruiz, Roberto Tagliavini, Maharram Huseynov, Alejandro López, María José Moreno, Lauren Randolph, among other artists.

Libretto by Cesare Sterbini, after Pierre-Augustin de Beaumarchais’ play Le barbier de Séville ou la Précaution inutile (1775).

Synopsis and more information

Count Almaviva tries to win the heart of Rosina, a young woman controlled by her jealous guardian Bartolo, who wants to marry her for her fortune. Almaviva goes to the resourceful barber Figaro, who organises a series of daring schemes and antics to outwit Bartolo. Rosina falls in love with the Count without initially knowing who he really is. After various comic misunderstandings and deceptions making a fool of Bartolo, the couple manage to marry for love, thanks to Figaro’s cunning.
