Following this Tuesday's recital at the Teatro Real, Anna Netrebko was unwell due to severe physical exhaustion and vocal fatigue, aggravated by the ongoing extreme weather conditions, as reported by her agent. After examining her, the doctor has issued a medical certificate that orders full vocal and physical rest for the next few weeks, meaning she has been forced to withdraw from her upcoming performances of Il trovatore.
Anna Netrebko sincerely regrets disappointing her colleagues and the audiences and asks for everyone's understanding.
The soprano is looking forward to returning to the Teatro Real in November to participate in Bluebeard 's Castle by Béla Bartók, and in March 2027 in La Gioconda by Amilcare Ponchielli.
The role of Leonora will be performed by the soprano Eleonora Buratto on 6, 9, 13 and 16 July.
Due to health reasons, Marina Rebeka has had to cancel her participation in the performance of Il trovatore on 20 July. The role of Leonora will be performed by Saioa Hernández in this performance.
A return for the Teatro Real’s production of Il trovatore, directed by Francisco Negrín, one of the most popular titles in the entire operatic repertoire. Featuring in this opera from Verdi's popular trilogy will be the voices of Piotr Beczała, Artur Rucinski, Marina Rebeka, Saioa Hernández, Eleonora Buratto, and Anita Rachvelishvili, making her debut at the Real, as well as other artists.
