Sonia Miranda, singing
Sonia Miranda (Seville, 1974) is a singer with great sensitivity and deep knowledge of the classic repertoire. Trained at the Cristina Heeren Foundation, she was a pupil of the likes of José de la Tomasa and Naranjito de Triana. Her career began after winning awards at prestigious competitions at places like Lo Ferro, Córdoba, La Unión and Sanlúcar. Since then, she has taken part in festivals such as the Seville Biennial, the Jerez Festival, Suma Flamenca, and performed on many club circuits in Spain and abroad. She has also appeared on stage in places like New York, Berlin, Miami, Lille and Utrecht. Her discography features Garabato (2006) – the winner of an award from the specialist critics, and Casita del panaero (2012), an intimate homage to her roots. Her singing is characterised by purity, stylistic expertise and a serene expressiveness that connects with tradition based on emotion.
Aitana Rousseau, dancing
Aitana Rousseau Cañadas (Almería, 2000) is a dancer who trained since childhood at the Kina Jiménez Professional Dance Conservatory in Almería and, later at the Andalusian Dance Centre in Seville. In 2019 she joined the Flamenco Ballet of Andalusia, taking part in Naturalmente flamenco, which premiered at the Jerez Festival. The same year she joined the Spanish National Ballet, where she has formed part of the corps de ballet in productions like Electra, Invocación, Centenario Antonio Ruiz Soler and La Bella Otero. In 2023 she made her debut in a guest leading role with the latter at the Teatro Circo in Albacete. Her elegant, precise dancing, full of presence combines technical solidity with a mature expressiveness, making her mark as one of the emerging performers on the contemporary flamenco scene.
Peña El Taranto, founded in Almería in 1963 by figures like Rafael Monterreal and El Niño de Álora is one of the oldest and best-known flamenco clubs in Spain. From its beginnings it has played a key role in preserving and promoting flamenco. Its annual programme includes flamenco recitals and masses, the Flamenco Proclamation and the iconic Flamenco Week. The club gives awards such as the El Taranto trophy and the prize for best guitar accompaniment. Its many awards include the Gold Medal of Merit in Fine Arts (2019), the Manolo Sanlúcar International Award (2024) and the Almería City Council Gold Medal.
